The starting point of any landscaping project is good garden design

At Designscape we work with you every step of the way to achieve this by offering expert advice on design style, material choices, planting schemes, lighting, and costings for your project. We also hook you up with one of our trusted professional landscape contractors to ensure your garden is expertly crafted to exacting standards. From initial first meeting and throughout the design stages we have the knowledge and expertise to ensure a successful result is always achieved.

Consultation:
After initial first contact we send out a design questionnaire to gain a greater understanding of your requirements. Once received we then arrange to meet with you at your home. Here we will discuss your requirements, what you are hoping to achieve, garden style, material choices and budget for the build.

We will email you with a summary of your garden together with a cost of our design services based on this.

Site survey:
Following the initial consultation we will arrange a site survey and garden analysis to accurately survey your garden plot. Here we take boundary and house measurements, level changes and note any utilities/services, note all existing trees, plants and features and photograph the plot. For large complex gardens we will arrange for a surveyor to attend site.

Concept design:
The first stage of design is the concept plan. This is a scaled drawing of your garden prepared with the information gathered during the survey. We use your garden brief, wish list and budget to build up a suitable scheme for your new garden. At this stage we outline areas such as proposed patio space, lawn areas, planting beds and main features to be included in the design. We use a combination of 2D & 3D design to provide a visual representation of how the garden will look.
This is then presented to you and we discuss the proposal.

We work with you on this as every garden we design is unique and tailored to your specific needs and requirements so revisions can be made until this stage is finalised.

Master plan:
This takes the original concept plan and adds life into the design to provide a realistic visualisation of how your finished garden will look when built. Here we add detail, textures and shadows to bring the garden to life. We will add further technical specifications with measurements and proposed features together with a material palette and 3D elevation visuals.

Planting plans:
Planting plans are designed around your proposed garden scheme taking into account you colour palette and garden styling. This is also based on location aspect within the garden and eventual size and spread of trees and plants.

Lighting design:
Lighting is an important element of planning a new garden and should be considered right at the beginning of the design stage. It extends the amount of time a garden can be used throughout the year and can be used to highlight trees and other focal points or create soft lighting around a social lounge area. It is also important to light steps or access areas within the garden to provide a safe transition between spaces. We design lighting schemes using the latest LED technology on remote control wireless systems giving complete flexibility for individual lighting zones. We have long established relationships with the industries best suppliers who are at the forefront of garden lighting technology.

Construction drawings:
As part of our design package we can offer construction drawings. These are technical drawings that show how a certain item or garden feature should be constructed. When investing in a new garden build it is important to know that your new garden will be constructed to the highest standards.

Irrigation plans:
Irrigation is often overlooked but for new planting schemes it is vital that these are kept supplied with adequate water unit they have established. This is particularly important for roof terrace planting where trees and shrubs will not have access to natural ground water supplies and will be prone to drying out in containers, particularly during the summer months so it is vital to invest wisely with a properly designed irrigation system to cater for individual plant requirements.

Bespoke items:
With many years of onsite experience we have the understanding of how a garden should be built.
We can design the perfect bespoke garden feature for your project such as an outdoor kitchen, garden bar or spa area.

Project monitoring:
Once your project has been assigned to the landscape team Designscape collaborate with them and all the necessary designs, drawings, specifications and documents are packaged up to guide the landscapers through the build process. We are on hand for any further advice or back up support for the project from day one to completion.
